The rapid test for detection of elevated troponin I levels of the horse
Qualitative rapid test for the detection of cardiac troponin I (Cut-off 1 ng / ml) in serum, plasma or whole blood.
The Fassisi® Tropo is a useful addition in cardiologic diagnostic examinations in the horse. Troponin poses an appropriate parameter for acute cardiac diagnosis, which indicate cell damages of the myocardium. The Fassisi Tropo also also provides the possibility to identify early dysfunctions.
Troponin is a protein complex, which consists of the three sub-types T, I and C and can be found in the striated muscles of the animal. Especially in the muscle cells of the heart troponin T and
I can be found, which useful can be used for diagnostic purposes.
In serum of the animal under normal conditions only a very low concentration of cardiac troponin is present. The concentration of troponin increases in the serum e.g. as a result of damage to the
cardiac myocytes. In the process a single-phase increase after 3 to 8 hours by the release of cytosolic troponin dissolved can be observed. With severe damage effects a subsequent necrosis leads
to a significantly higher increase in concentration of troponin. This increased concentration in serum may occur as a result of a infarction, trauma, or a cardiomyopathies. The concentration of
troponin in blood correlates with the severity of the acute myocardial damage.
A troponin measurements in serum or whole blood is recommended for an acute diagnosis and early detection of evolving myocardial damages.
